Hi Barry
Yes, talking about eye openers.
I retrospect and hind sight, the TBH hives tell a lot about that.
I
have little specifics relative to your point of observation since
I tend
to leave them alone and not "Manage" them.
Did you ever try to send them on their way without "Starter
strips"?
Some of mine whittled away and left a minute strip of wax without
impressions and would still draw out, But don't ask me about
the
measures since I could not backtrack and in that specific tbh
the
majority were drone and storage combs .,I.E. Queen problems
Another trivia: If the top bar is tapered to a point, forming
a
triangle looking at in a crossectional view the bees will draw
from
there without wax starters. I have seen this on a Swiss frame
.
You comb looks real good. Since mine are older, they followed
the
shape of the Kenya type to the bottom without attaching to the
sides to
be a nuisance.
One more item: How do you harvest without the solid foundation?
(I
use the cheapy c-clamp method).
