STARTING SPLITS, What to feed?

OK. My 2 49ers have come through winter in excellent shape!! One hive
has around 6 frames of brood and fills 1 1/2 boxes with bees. The
other has 8 or so frames of brood and fills 2 brood boxes with bees
and I have added another brood box with 2 frames of comb and 8 frames
of foundation. I plan to split both of these hives in a couple of
weeks.

Here is my question. I have several (6-8) frames of honey in each
hive. I plan to put 1 or 2 in each split. Do I still need to feed
these splits sugar water to help them build? Do I need to use that
new extractor of mine to extract some of these frames to help open
the brood nest?

This is my first year bringing bees through the winter, so I could
use some good advice.

Thanks,
Gene
