BIBBA-L is a
mailing list for beekeepers interested in Apis mellifera mellifera,
the Dark European Honeybee. The Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders
Association (BIBBA) is, as the name implies, aimed at improving
strains of Apis m.m. by selective breeding. BIBBA was founded
in 1964 for the conservation, restoration, study, selection and
improvement of our native and near native bees of Britain and
Ireland. As Apis m.m. originally occupied the whole of Northern
Europe, there are many beekeepers in European countries working
with similiar aims, and indeed some are members of BIBBA. However
this mailing list is not just for BIBBA members, but anyone interested
in Apis m.m.. In using this mailing list the usual rules of etiquette
apply, be courteous and respect others views.
